We headed out of boiling Marrakech towards the coast and the cool air of the quaint fishing city: Essaouira.

It was a refreshing contrast to the loud and bustling Marrakech and we really enjoyed simply strolling the old streets and watching the fishermen go about their daily business.

Wir verließen das brodelnd heiße Marrakesch in Richtung Küste und der kühlen Luft des malerischen Fischerorts: Essaouira.

Es war ein erfrischender Kontrast zum lauten und geschäftigen Marrakesch, und wir genossen es sehr, einfach nur durch die alten Straßen zu schlendern und die Fischer bei ihren täglichen Geschäften zu beobachten.

Our campsite was a little out of the city in Sidi Kaouki and although it was extremely windy the few days we stayed there, we managed to enjoy a few days on the wide sandy beach. Here Sol and I had the hilarious experience of riding a moody camel called Baba Ganoush, and we also went crab spotting along the nearby rocky coastline.

Unser Campingplatz lag etwas außerhalb der Stadt in Sidi Kaouki, und obwohl es an den wenigen Tagen, die wir dort verbrachten, extrem windig war, konnten wir ein paar Tage am breiten Sandstrand genießen. Hier hatten Sol und ich das lustige Erlebnis, auf einem launischen Kamel namens Baba Ganoush zu reiten, und wir gingen an der nahe gelegenen Felsenküste auf Krabbenjagd.

Then it was time so move on and we headed towards Agadir, a hotspot particularly for German and British tourists. On the way there we stopped at Imsouane (thanks for the tip, P.dog!) and also Taghazout, which I‘d previously visited many years ago.

Dann war es an der Zeit, weiterzufahren, und wir machten uns auf den Weg nach Agadir, einem Hotspot vor allem für deutsche und britische Touristen. Auf dem Weg dorthin hielten wir in Imsouane (danke für den Tipp, P.dog!) und auch in Taghazout, das ich schon vor vielen Jahren besucht hatte.

We picked up some supplies in Agadir and prepared ourselves for the upcoming Sahara crossing and being off-grid for a few days. Sidi Ifni would be our final stop before crossing into „West Sahara“ which is a bit of a greyzone and officially actually controlled by Morocco.

In Agadir besorgten wir Reiseproviant und bereiteten uns auf die bevorstehende Sahara-Durchquerung vor, bei der wir ein paar Tage lang ohne zivilisatorische Annehmlichkeiten auskommen mussten. Sidi Ifni würde unser letzter Halt vor der Durchquerung der “Westsahara” sein, die staatsrechtlich eine Grauzone darstellt und offiziell von Marokko kontrolliert wird.
